Captain Nicholson – I just wanted to tell you what a pleasure it was to serve under you while I was on the Ranger from 75 to 76 including Westpac as a very young man. I worked for Lt. Haskell the legal officer in the Discipline Office. I recorded at many Capt. Masts and you were always very fair to the men and always tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. You always were trying to the best you could for us. You were a very inspirational leader – I have never forgotten “Press On”. I really miss the days when there was no political correctness to speak of and a little fun like becoming a Shellback was totally accepted or mooning the Russian Bear as they flew over us. My very positive experience and personal growth on the Ranger has served me well in life. I learned so much during my time on Ranger. It was a shame to see her on her last voyage to the scrap pile. Thank you for serving this great country and I wish you well.
