This is so impressive. Love these pictures.
I was a student of Captain Nick and graduated in 1991 from Sanger High School. I remember him always telling us to “press on” yet at the time I had no idea what that really meant. Nearing my graduation I was hard pressed between the army and Marine Corps. I asked him what he thought and he told me, this is a choice I need to make so go right or go left, just make a choice. I chose the latter and joined the Marine Corps. 2 days after graduating I returned to Sanger High and he was the first person I wanted to see to thank him for his support. The look on his face when I entered his classroom was noticeably full of pride and he shook my hand and said welcome Marine. I think of him often, which I how I found this website. I know he was the skipper of the Ranger yet I had absolutely no idea of how accomplished this man truly was. God Speed Captain Nick and thank you for your contribution to my life.
Thank you for your kind words. He was an amazing man who is missed greatly. The best we can do to honor him is to encourage others the way he encouraged us.
